The research and development of the rotomolding process in China began in the 1960s. At that time, the Shanghai toy industry began to use rotomolding molding methods to produce soft PVC ball; the Shangsu No. 3 Plant successfully produced 200L and 1500L rotomolded polyethylene containers. In the mid-1970s, Beijing FRP developed a successful roll-molded nylon container and was used in forest fire extinguishers and other products. Although there were dozens of rotomolding factories in China in 1992, most of them belonged to the Western equipment level and technical level in the 1950s and 1960s. They processed about 9,000 tons of resin per year, accounting for only the total consumption of resin in the country. 8-90% of the world average, 1% of the world average, and about 28 kinds of products, 0.5% of the world's number. Although some plastic companies are involved in the manufacture of rotomolding products, due to the constraints of key processes, there has been no major breakthrough and only products with relatively strict dimensions and relatively rough performance requirements have been produced. As a result, most practitioners do not fully recognize the advanced nature of rotomolding technology and strong market competitiveness. With the words of the largest rotational molder in the United States, "China's rotomolding has not yet started, and China's rotomolding market has not yet been developed!"

In the middle and late 1990s, after some domestic companies introduced advanced rotomolding equipment and technology from abroad, they started a large-scale industrialization in a true sense. At present, domestic enterprises have been able to produce large-scale plastic products such as chemical storage tanks with a container volume of more than 20,000L and high-speed plastic yachts. In recent years, China's rotomoulding industry has developed rapidly. There are nearly 100 rotomoulding factories in all parts of the country. The number of rotomolding products produced by these manufacturers is increasing, and the application fields are becoming more and more widespread. However, compared with the advanced level in developed countries, the gap is still very clear. In the early 1990s, more than 5,000 kinds of rotomoulding products were registered at the rotomoulding association in the United States, while China has only 40 kinds of rotomolding products. The rotational rotomoulding products in foreign countries have involved more than 30 industries, while rotomolding products in China only More than ten industries are involved. In rotomolding raw materials, at present, in domestic rotomolding products, the proportion of rotomolding of polyethylene and its composite materials in the market accounts for about 75% of the total rotomolding products, and 99% of rotomolding products are made of PE. 95% is also very suitable for rotomolding grade LLDPE, while the proportion of foreign rotomolded polyethylene material is roughly: 65% for LLDPE, 2% for XHDPE (cross-linked polyethylene), 10% for HDPE, LDPE It is 5%.

In order to adapt to the increasing variety of rotomolded products, the scientific and technological content of rotomoulding products continues to increase, and the demand for rotomolding products has increased in all walks of life. The China Plastics Processing Industry Association has also established a rotomolding professional committee. The aim is to exchange production technology and experience of rotomolding process, digest and absorb foreign advanced technology and equipment, strengthen technical cooperation, promote the development of rotomolding process technology, processing equipment and molds in China, and research and develop rotomolding special materials and their products.
